The Reality We Must Face

Every one of us was once a child.

Children who grow up without a father figure are statistically more likely to struggle with poverty, behavioral problems, dropping out of school, incarceration, and mental health challenges. Research consistently shows that a strong father presence provides protection, guidance, discipline, and stability that children need to grow into healthy adults.

A father is more than a paycheck.
A father represents leadership, accountability, and someone a child can look up to.

The Numbers We Cannot Ignore

Research and national reports consistently show that children growing up without fathers face significantly higher risks in many areas of life.

Commonly cited national studies report that:

  • 63% of youth suicides come from fatherless homes — about 5 times the average (U.S. Dept. of Health / Census data summaries)

  • 90% of homeless and runaway children come from fatherless homes

  • 85% of children with behavioral disorders come from fatherless homes

  • 80% of rapists with anger problems come from fatherless homes (Justice & Behavior research summaries)

  • 71% of high school dropouts come from fatherless homes (National Principals Association Report)

  • 75% of adolescents in chemical abuse centers come from fatherless homes

  • 70% of youths in state-operated institutions come from fatherless homes (U.S. Department of Justice reports)

  • 85% of youths in prison come from fatherless homes

These numbers reveal a difficult truth.

A father is more than a paycheck.

A father represents protection, leadership, guidance, discipline, friendship, and someone a child can look up to.

Strong fathers help build strong children.
Strong children help build strong communities.

The Veteran Mental Health Crisis

At the same time, many of the men who served this country are fighting battles at home.

According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs:

  • Over 6,000 veterans die by suicide each year in the United States.

  • That averages about 17 veterans per day.

  • Veterans experience higher rates of PTSD, depression, anxiety, and substance abuse than the general population.

Many veterans struggle with the transition from military service to civilian life, loss of purpose, isolation, and untreated trauma.
